Any student that is new to PE this nine weeks will need to read the following syllabus and return the last page with a parent signature.
We are currently fitness testing students enrolled in PE. Tomorrow and Friday my classes will be running the PACER.
7th grade, 1st hour did 'Group Juggling', 'Hula Hoop Relay', and 'knots. 7th grade, 2nd hour did not have PE today due to hearing/vision screening.
6th and 8th grades did 'Mission Impossible'. The class is divided into 2 teams. Each team must work together to get their entire group across the gym without touching the floor. Each team starts with a scooter. Once they make it to the center of the gym there is a gymnastics mat, 3 poly-spots, and 2 foam noodles to use. If a student touches the floor, he/she must return to the starting point. Students had to work together to solve the diminishing load problem. All students had to be carried across an open space. The only person allowed to walk across the open space is the last person. Students worked together to decide the best way to get everyone across and did a great job of listening to one another!
The second activity we did today was to create a 10 person symmetrical pyramid. We are learning some initiatives and cooperative learning activities. Today the students worked on solving the 'Traffic Jam' problem. This requires students to work together and listen to one another to solve the problem. Afterwards we played 'Spider Tag' and 'Octopus'.
